And, obviously, it doesn’t work if you don’t have an Apple Watch. However, it only unlocks the lock screen, it doesn’t perform the other function of Face ID, to work with Apple Pay or certain locked apps. It’s a wholly successful system that means the iPhone checks with your Watch that you are you and unlocks the screen.
If you have an Apple Watch, you can set it so that you can unlock your iPhone when you’re wearing a mask. It has meant that unlocking your iPhone has been less smooth than before.
